Scam Warning
We have become aware of fraudulent schemes that misuse the Ago Actum Ltd name, logo and the identities of our people. This page explains how to recognise, avoid and report them. Last updated 3 August 2026.
Please be vigilant.Fraudsters sometimes impersonate reputable companies — including AgoActum — to trick people into handing over money or personal information. AgoActum is not connected with these schemes and will never ask you for payment or sensitive financial details as part of a recruitment or business process.
What is happening
From time to time, criminals use the names of well-known and trusted organisations to make fraudulent approaches appear genuine. These scams may reach you by email, text message, phone call, social media, or through fake websites and job boards, and may use our company name, branding, or the names of real or invented employees.
Common examples include fake job offers and recruitment fraud, bogus consulting or investment opportunities, fake invoices or supplier requests, and messages asking you to pay a fee or share personal or banking information. These communications do not come from AgoActum, and we are not responsible for them.
How to spot a scam
Treat any approach with caution if you notice one or more of these warning signs:
- A request for any payment, “fee”, deposit or tax to secure a job, contract or opportunity.
- Messages sent from free or lookalike email domains rather than @agoactum.com.
- Requests for your bank details, ID documents or passwords early in a process.
- Unsolicited job offers for roles you never applied for, often with unrealistic pay.
- Pressure to act urgently, keep things confidential, or move to WhatsApp/Telegram.
- Poor spelling and grammar, or details that don’t match our official website.
What AgoActum will never do
- Ask you to pay any fee, deposit or tax to apply for a job, receive an offer, or win a contract.
- Request your bank account details, card numbers, passwords or one-time passcodes to “process” an application or payment.
- Make a firm job offer without a proper interview process and formal, verifiable documentation.
- Contact you about a role using a free webmail account (for example, Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo) in place of an official @agoactum.com address.
- Ask you to purchase equipment, gift cards or cryptocurrency on our behalf.
How to verify a genuine communication
If you are unsure whether a message really came from us:
- Check the sender’s email domain carefully — genuine AgoActum email comes only from @agoactum.com. Be wary of small misspellings or extra words (for example, ago-actum-careers.com).
- Do not click links or open attachments in a suspicious message.
- Contact us directly through the details on this website to confirm before responding, paying anything, or sharing information.
- Our only official website is www.agoactum.com. Treat any other site claiming to be us as suspect.
If you think you have been targeted
If you receive a suspicious approach that uses our name, or you believe you may have been the victim of a scam, please:
- Stop all contact with the sender and do not send any money or further information.
- Tell us by emailing hello@agoactum.com so we can investigate and warn others. If you can, include copies of the messages and the sender’s details.
- Report it to the authorities. In the UK, contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040, or forward suspicious emails to the National Cyber Security Centre at report@phishing.gov.uk and suspicious texts to 7726. If you have lost money, also contact your bank immediately. Outside the UK, report to your local police or national fraud-reporting service.
